Hello All

We had a great long weekend in the UK.
Together with Monique, Jef Wouters and his Wife Greet we had booked
some extra days as holiday and with the superb weather it was a great
few days out in Suffolk.

And then Saturday we had E-Scape 2019!! What a great day of Music.
The foyer music was handled this year by  Nik Owen Jones. He presented
his first release on CD I/O. This is what all love, great music in the style of TD,
Jarre and Vangelis. We enjoyed the music a lot. Great was the tribute he
did to Edgar Froese. This is a CD that you should check out.
I am playing a track in Dreamscape Radio!!

I met up also with Paul Ward and they found in his attic some cool
older releases long being thought of out of print.
Paul Ward - For a Knave
Paul Ward - FEAR OF MAKE-BELIEVE
VA - Emma i&II
Quiet Point - BEYOND THE QUIET POINT
Well we have them now in stock but only limited amounts of each.
Gone is Gone!!

On the big stage It started with Axxent Opaque
(Colin Jordan, Gary Wright and Chris Medway),
this was a BIG surprise for me, great Sequencer based music that bulged
into the hall. It was fast, fat and absolutely fabulous. This reminded me of
Redshift, Cosmic Ground and FSP with their sequencing. It is less polished.
Has a raw side but it was so good that i stayed the entire performance.
I bought the CDs for the Catalog and it is also in Dreamscape Radio!!

Infinity Curve was the second act and when you put 2 great musicians
together there can be magic on stage. And man was this the case.
Peter Challoner and Jez Creek mesmerized the hall with their big
Sequences and the Ambient part in between. They had 2 new releases
and both are now in stock and ready for you to explore!!

E3 was another duo, Paul Ward and Stephen Whitlan performed a short
set prior to the Wavestar II performance.  Sold big chords and ambient
soundscapes. After that Michael Shipway and John Dyson joined in
and it started the great performance of Wavestar II. Solid EM with lots
of great track from the past and new material from Night winds.

After the Break we had Glenn with a cool musical set and after that
we had the performances of David Wright and Carys. A solid evening
program that all enjoyed enormously.

Great thanks for Elaine and David Wright for putting this great day
together!! I know what it means to do this ad this was again a great
edition!! And thanks for all who visited the Groove Stand.

Eloy Fritsch made 2 great Promotion Video's of his new album.
Journey to the Future enjoy them!!

18546 Atilla, Can - Masiva

Can Atilla put his name on the chessboard of EM in 2018 with a
splendid comeback album; Berlin High School Legacy. Subsequently, the
name of Can began to circulate out of his native Turkey with posts on
Facebook. Posts about upcoming concerts, but in a pattern other than
the Berlin School. Either with philharmonic orchestras, we forget that
Can Atilla has a Master's in Music from the Turkish Conservatory, or
with another project; Masiva. Words surrounded this project;
Electronic Rock Experience! They were 4 on various posters; Can Atilla
on synths and sequencers as well as rhythm programming, Mahir Dawn
Tuzcu on guitar, Muhammet Özer on bass and finally Mehmet Levent Ünal
on drums. The few excerpts suggested energetic electronic music.
Soberly titled CAN ATILLA'S MASIVA, this new album is a bombshell! A
bombshell of accessible and highly harmonic music with frenzied
rhythms and electronic anthems that flirt between rock and electronic
dance m usic (EDM) inspired by Jarre's shows between Rendezvous and
Chronology. The most intense period of the French musician for live shows.
And it starts with "Vivaldi"! Sequencer beads flow timidly into
nebulous mists whose fluttering sneaks into resonances of new, more
energetic arpeggios. A DJ comes in and tunes his sequencer in mode;
survival guide for a Saturday night in a trendy nightclub. A shot of
electronic percussions, sequences that try to follow the same flow and
chords à la Jean-Michel Jarre, which absolutely want you to dance,
propel this version of Vivaldi in Techno's wonderlands. The bass
drums, boom-boom-boom, makes vibrate our eardrums while the guitar
tears the moods with incisive solos. From then on, it's an attack of
massive and extremely voracious rhythms which assail as much the
febrility of our feet as our eardrums adjusted for contagious rhythms
that will parade for the next 9 tracks. The guitarist, molded in the
sonic forms of Patrick Rondat, will make epic duels with the synth for
stormy solos. His riffs and the heavy bass of Muhammet Özer second the
sequencer and the rhythmic programming which, with the drum, will club
the soles of our feet. One just recovers from this "Vivaldi" that "Le
Visage" offers a line of bass pulsations à la Rendezvous IV. The
percussions and slamming of hands redirect the rhythm towards a
semi-techno electronic rock with a guitar and its heavy riffs as well
as a synth and its melodious arrangements. A choir adds a more
pink-candy dimension to this music that turns resolutely more in mode
rock. The arrangements and the guitar form a melodic duet that easily
weaves its ear worm. "Atomium" proposes a soft introduction that
deviates towards a morphic Techno and its slow boom-boom which shake
threads of harmonic sequences. The guitar adds weight with riffs and
solos. It's catchy and especially very good when a sweet seraphic
voice infiltrates these ambiances of lunar dances.
It's in Tangram's influences that "Hope" comes out of silence. If the
beginning is oneiric, as soon as percussive effects of pit-viper's
style, like in Oxygen 4, start to get hear the rhythm turns for a big
but static e-rock with a guitar always so stormy. This Mahir Dawn
Tuzcu is very solid and his solos are of fire! The pieces of harmonies
always have this little very catchy side. And apart from its
arrangements, effects and harmonies in the background, the synth
justifies its presence with more harmonic solos. "Hope" exploits to
the maximum its minutes by taking a more rock corridor. The finale is
very cosmic with an astral soprano voice that sings on the backwashes
of a cosmic ocean. Ocean that we will meet again in the more
exploratory title, "Soyuz One". "Idea", a title which appears on a
previous album of Can Atilla, just like "Vivaldi" by the way, is
reinterpreted in a vision of electronic rock that only Jarre could
give to his classics in concerts. The music welcomes lyrics and solos,
always very harmoniou s , which are shared this time between the
guitar and the synth. There is more text in "Sarajevo", the most
electronic title of CAN ATILLA'S MASIVA. The rhythm is very dynamic
with a mesh of sequences, boom-boom pulsations, keyboard-guitar riffs
and a good connection between the drums and the bass, always so heavy.
A bass that I forget to write about, and which is however very present
and makes a remarkable work of support throughout this album. The
synth eclipses the guitar with good solos in "Sarajevo". Laser harp
chords and jerky layers of voices as in Rendezvous complete the
setting. "Soyuz One" is an evolving title with a firework of cosmic
effects, we immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of Houston-Lyon Cities
In Concert. The arrangements are thunderous, and the intensity is
designed to give us chills. Phases of rhythms and of ambiances lead us
to a finale where the synth is literally in mode; On the Run by Pink
Floyd. "Moongate" puts us back into an energetic rock and EDM with a
mix of boom-boom and hyperactive sequences. The guitar tears the moods
again with very good solos over staccato orchestral riffs that give
more tonus to the rhythm. "Victory" is a bit in the same mold while
"Justinianus" ends this CAN ATILLA'S MASIVA with a fiery EDM anthem
full of these rattlesnakes' percussions and structured around a
melodious approach as much eater of earlobe as in " Le Visage".
Boum-boom, yeah-yeah ... let's rock to the moon!
There are not 36 ways to talk about this CAN ATILLA'S MASIVA! Rhythm,
lots of rhythms. Melodies, many melodies. There is no more Jean-Michel
Jarre at the moment than this new group of Can Atilla. In fact, one
would think to hear Jean-Michel Jarre scroll all his hits since there
is no hole, no empty moment in this album which is certainly intended
for fans of the French musician. Excellent! Like Ave, but in another
music style ...

48550 Wollo, Erik - Visions

Is there softer and more electronic than the music of Erik Wollo? And
“Visions-A Collection of Music by...” is exactly there to show it to
you. I never was and still am not a fan, or a defendant, of
compilations. I understand that in X-Mas commercial times, the labels
try to refloat their safes with compilation albums. The pretext is
ideal! The money suckers want to make discover the music of an artist
by a collection of successful titles where hide 1 or 2 unreleased
pieces of music. A little as here where “Visions-A Collection of Music
by...” hides a brand new track, but what a track, and another one
which was hidden on this very good compilation of the label Projekt,
Possiblities of Circumstance released on autumn 2013. The only
difference here is the real reach of this compilation which aims above
all at making know the music of Erik Wollo. As prove its prices; $5
for the download version or $7 for a manufactured CD. Admit that at
this pr i ce, there is no more reason now to not be tempted by this
very nice sonic journey into lyrism.
The selection is divided well between a music bearer of dreams, as
"Echotides No 4" and its structure which oscillates like a thousand
streams under the sea breams of the sun, and good down-tempos where
nests a beautiful ballad approach as in "Revealed in Time" from the
solid Blue Radiance album. “Visions-A Collection of Music by...” makes
an overview of the 5 solo albums, excluding some EP, that Erik Wollo
produced on the Projekt label since he arrived in 2010 with the
Gateway album from which the extract proposed here, the title-track,
leads us towards a more tribal trance that an ethereal vision of
Wollo. "Visions" from Timelines is doubtless the track which is the
closest to the New Age nuances of the bard Scandinavian whereas "The
Native", which is rather recent by the way, plunges us into his
attraction for the ambient tribal moods. It's a powerful track with a
good lively struct ure. Decorating the delights of Possiblities of
Circumstance, the slide guitar of "Misty Blue" is as much bewitching
as its melody forged in the ringings with a scent of Halloween. Here
also the structure is heavy but very hypnotic. "Within These Walls",
the only real newness of this compilation, is a remix of Black Tape
for a Blue Girl song. Here, the Peter Murphy's Gothic genre is
transposed into a more oniric approach with long woosh which make roll
the loops, both riffs and crystal clear sequences, in a permutation of
the woosh for astral voices. From oniric, the crystal clear tempo
becomes heavy with good muted pulsations and percussions of false wood
which resound shyly. Tears of guitars tears it up with ghostly
harmonies which float among the resilient ringings of the crystal
clear sequences. "Airborne 2" concludes this good compilation with a
slightly spasmodic structure of rhythm. We hear a kind of panting from
riffs and the sequences blowing over good sober percussions an d bass
pulsations. Structuring so a passive, but all the same, a nervous
rhythm where the melody is assured by a minimalist approach of a piano
which plays very well on its nuances. It's reflecting very well the
contemporary universe of Erik Wollo who always floods us with his very
airy solos. Solos which float with perfumes of bitterness.
Of course that I'm already that I am conquered to the universe of Erik
Wollo! The music of the Scandinavian bard possesses an identity that
we don't hear anywhere else, conferring it a cachet which is more than
unique seen its approach all the same rather intimist, otherwise very
personal. Always flirting with the borders of New Age, Erik Wollo
admirably knows how to play on these limits by diving into the tribal
ambient and sometimes transic kinds while giving an electronic side
into a music on which are always roaming harmonies that we imagine to
whistle on ice floes of his Norway.
